This is a popular Gujarati dish. You can call it an Indian version of the famous Corn Chowder. This is incredibly easy to make and gets ready in no time – plus it is so yummy, I promise that you’ll be licking your spoon clean!

Ingredients:

2 cups       …….. sweet corn kernels (frozen or fresh)
½ tsp        ……… cooking oil
½ tsp        ……… mustard seeds
½ tsp        ……… asafoetida
1 tsp         ……… ginger garlic paste
1 cup        ……… milk
½ tsp        ……… chili flakes
salt to taste

Method:

  • If you are using frozen corn, thaw it first. Put the corn kernels in a grinder and grind them to form a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and asafoetida. When the seeds crackle, add the ginger garlic paste and ground corn kernels, salt and mix well.
  • Now add the milk slowly while constantly stirring the mix.
  • Cover the lid and cook it till its nice and soft.
  • Garnish with chili flakes.
  • Ready to serve.

Tip:
Add a little lemon juice if you want sweet and sour tast.
You can add more milk and have it as a thick soup if you prefer.
