It was almost morning
When I heard the voice.
A voice that said, “You got to wake up!”
Loud and clear like the tinkling of a bell
A voice like no other
Melodious yet firm
gentle yet powerful
Exhilarating mind, body and soul
Pulling me to my work desk
Till I sat upright
with restless fingers typing frantically.
As the words began to pour out
I could feel the constriction in my throat melt
gradually but perceptibly.
I breathed easier
And a golden warmth surged through me
taking away the simmering restlessness
that had haunted me for days
Possibly a sign that I was drifting
Till that voice of my soul’s dawn woke me
To tell me that I have a dream
A dream that seeks me like I seek it.
And this time I won’t let it slip away
I won’t let the tinkling of that bell
fade away.
