The plays and their details:

Timba timba timba prashnachinha (in Hindi)

Duration: 60 minutes.

The play is a black comedy in Hindi based on an award winning script of the same name in Marathi. The play explores the tendency of a cynical human society that does not want to  get involved in adversity to help others. What happens to people when they examine a tragedy from a distance? Do people get encouraged to transform society? Or does the difficulty of the task at hand result in eventual disillusionment? Are people ready to get their hands dirty in order to react to the situation? Or does armchair criticism and status- quo ensue?..

 Playwright: Shantanu Bhat

Shantanu Bhat has written three Marathi plays, Udhalun jau de tufaan sara manaatla, Maziya ana, jara bol na and is the winner of the prestigious Anant Narayan Karandak award.  He has also written, acted and co- directed many plays in Marathi and Hindi.

Director: Anup Suryavanshi

Udhalun jau de tufaan sara manaatla (co-written with Shantanu), Paalavi are  the Marathi plays written by Anup Suryavanshi and he has scripted them in Hindi and English as well. He is best known for his taut direction alongside extensive backstage involvement (in 12 plays) and has won the best actor, director and most memorable role awards three times to date.

Safar (a comedy/ satire in English)

Duration: 110  minutes (10 minute interval).

A comedy in English, the play is a satirical take on the apathy against initiative.  The setting of the play is not very important- it could happen anywhere. The hero, who is too full of himself, is unable to get a grip on reality.  He is blinded by his own ego and misplaced sense of importance that his status in society has given him. He is so afraid of not winning that he refuses to take any initiative. The topic is subtly debated with the help of farcical, surreal vignettes and dialogue laden with repartee and everyday conversation.
