It is not easy, to love yourself, when you seem unimportant
and seem to not contribute to a life
It is not easy, to believe in yourself, if you are not doing
anything apparently meaningful
It is not easy, to see that, what you’ve built your entire life on,
is a shaky foundation ready to crumble anytime
It is not easy, to wait and pause,
even when the whole world around you is moving on and up
It is not easy, to love a parent, who seems ashamed of you
It is not easy, to love someone,
and watch him leave with no promises or goodbyes
It is not easy, to plan to be happy,
and watch it shatter before your eyes
It is not easy, to believe that all the small steps on the path
will definitely add up, or help you to move forward
It is not easy, to say ‘Yes’ to yourself,
be selfish even when everybody thinks less of you
It is not easy, to see that you are making the same mistakes repeatedly,
and know not how to respond differently
It is not easy, to believe that even after 30 years,
this Valentine’s Day will be no different
It is not easy, to see that you have come so far in life,
but you’ve not really covered much ground
It is not easy, to notice that you seem to be at the end of your courage,
but still have a long way to go
It is not easy, to smile and be happy for your friend,
when they get what you wished for too!
It is not easy, to keep going,
even when you don’t see any signposts or support
But as someone rightly said..
‘No one said it would be easy. But they did say it would be worth it!’
