Music, images and the written word … while being, inanimate, in themselves …
many a time, make up for the absence of the human presence,
the heart connect, emotional bonding, conversations, sharing, understanding …
and in an inexplicable way, become a best friend, a soul mate, a co-witness, who is so needed …
they nurture our spirit … they offer companionship to our heart, mind and soul …
they identify with and share our moods, emotions, feelings, dreams, thoughts and memories …
they make us smile, laugh and cry … they rejoice in our happy times … they see us through our lows
they walk with us in companionable silence …
they pull us up and push us forward, when it is needed
they speak to us … they give solace, and comfort the ache within … they help us to cope …
they validate who we are … they reinforce what we know and believe in …
they teach … they give us different perspectives … they show us a whole new world …
they make us look within and without … they make us think, re-consider … they help us to learn,
they take us to places we would love to go to …
they take us to a “happy somewhere” …
they make us nostalgic, with a poignant regret for times that did not happen … for a person or
people who were never part of our journey …
they make us dream … that by serendipity it might still yet be …
they mentally connect us to a person or people that we would like to know …
they make us think, “oh ! you too”, “me too”, “ditto” …
and though wistful, we are also grateful, for this one-way connect with a like-minded someone,
somewhere in the universe …
to know that there are others in the world, who think and feel the same way, about similar mundane
and significant things …
we end up smiling … because, in that moment, we are in a magical world …
and then get on with life, striving to be happy, positive and strong …
this, is with gratitude, to the magic of music, images and the written word …
Minnie loves music, reading and serene natural landscapes and other spaces that connect with her heart! In the past, she has written a little, mostly for her own eyes. But recently in her own words, ”I garnered enough confidence to attempt to share my writing, and I connected with Unboxed Writers.”
