The thing about an Indian thali is that chances are slim any one of your taste buds will ever sit idle. It’s a constant explosion of flavours outdoing each other in pungency and sweetness. And the best part is once you are hooked, you keep going back.
The INK Conference, in association with TED, is like that inviting thali. At the end of the four-day conference the mind is likely to explode with a steady stream of ideas, inspirations, stories and possibilities that are being imbibed indiscriminately. And you keep coming back for more.
Every year, INK hopes to inspire and reignite passion for learning and innovation through great ideas and stories from accomplished individuals across various disciplines. Through INKTalks, it makes the best talks and performances from The INK Conference available to the world for free.
Last year, INK laid out a sumptuous spread, if one is allowed to stretch the dough further! Filmmaker James Cameron (pic above) got the maximum attention for his meaty lead and he surprised everyone by revealing the subtle flavors that constantly spice his role as a filmmaker. That life is a bitter and sweet mixture was brought home by author of The Dragonfly Effect Jennifer Aaker, when she shared the story of an Indian friend who used the social media to save lives rather than bore people to death.
Science writer and author of The Edge of Physics Anil Ananthaswamy, The Simpsons’ creator Matt Groening, founder of CD Baby Derek Sivers, anti-trafficking activist Sunitha Krishnan, singer-composer Joi Barua, Shantanu Moitra (top pic) and many others – left a lingering pleasurable aftertaste, while internationally renowned French designer Philippe Starck took the cake with his informative and hilariously entertaining talk on ways to achieve timelessness in design. Burp!
This year, INK is cooking up another delight with an equally accomplished line-up of speakers and performers who will share their ‘Power of the Journey’ in Jaipur from December 8 to 11.
What is The INK Conference, in association with TED?
The INK Conference is an annual event that aims to open minds to new possibilities by bringing together individuals with eclectic backgrounds under one roof. In 2009, Lakshmi Pratury co-hosted TEDIndia with Chris Anderson, Curator of TED Conference. Close to 1000 attendees from 46 different countries came to Mysore, India, to celebrate the first-ever TED in Asia. This conference brought together accomplished artists, architects, technologists, business people, musicians, dancers, scientists and social entrepreneurs as well as one hundred young TEDIndia fellows.
In 2010, to continue the conversations started at TEDIndia, Lakshmi curated and hosted a new conference called The INK Conference, in association with TED. TED provides strategic advice and has hosted some popular talks from The INK Conference on TED.com following the same editorial process and rigor as all other TED talks.
INK hopes to create a vibrant community of thinkers and doers from emerging economies in Asia, South America, the Middle East and more, which will be a great source of inspiration not only at its annual conference, but beyond it. It’s a world bursting with innovation, optimism and wisdom!
