If only I could…

Rewind the track of my life,

To go back in childhood,

To roll in mud;

Hide under beds;

To play in the street light;

To be dragged home by the ear!

**

If only I could…

Scramble through

The recycle bin of time

To rummage for my friends

Long lost in the smoke of loss

To restore them in fresh folders

And save in my present account!

**

If only I could…

Copy-paste my happiness

On to all the faces, drenched in tears;

And delete, with the click of a button,

Pain and poverty from the earth!

**

If only I could…

Format my life

That goes awry

Every now and then!

And

Download some programme

To protect my dear ones

From various ‘viruses’

Threatening me in my dreams!

**

If only I could…

Log on to Skype

To connect to, and chat with

The departed souls,

From the world above!

If only I could…
