How Do You Know

Did they say it’s the sparkle in both pairs of eyes,
Or the bells ringing in surprise…
Was the wave length supposed to match,
Or is it just a good looking catch?
**
Either the delight in the smile, or the money in a pile
Is it the experience or its consequence?
Was it the tall, dark and handsome bit
Or the small spark of wisdom -that  is a hit?
**
They say, when you shut your eyes and open your heart
You will know if he/she’s right
But they also say, it’s possible that all is just fate –
You might eventually find the one ,
But then… It could be all too late!
**
Be practical, they say
Logic will have its way.
Except you got to be perfectly pure,
And terribly sure!
**
Go online, put in a line
Go meet them outside, preside over life
Or, just let your parents decide
They will work things out, and hire a worthy guide!
**
They said, don’t be a drama queen
You are not the only one to whom life is being mean
It happens to all, we have been through it all,
Just hang on and not fall for anyone who comes by.
You need to work things out for joy to multiply.
**
They say, learn to flirt. Catch the eye..
Lose some weight, dress bright
Leave behind the big head, ok? Don’t be so uptight!
**
You got to go looking
Same time, it could also come  looking for you.
It’s the stars that should match;
The lines on your palms should latch; the numbers will have to patch.
**
It’s the big knot, forget this not!
Millions have been through this phase, have they not?
You are not the only one to face this “situation”
Why are you creating so much commotion and confusion?

**

And yet…
Mother prays for you, father worries for you
Brother and sister plead with you
You are blocking their view
Happy for your freedom? Very very few!

**

I stand to ask:
How do you know that here’s the one!
All the same – one nose, one mouth, two  eyes – no surprise!
A little receding hair, a preceding belly, nose up in the air
For some it just depends on what they wear.

**

I want to know:
How  will I know that here’s the one!
That there is none as right  as this one?
And if  you get it wrong,
You are just no one to no one, for long, so long!
