Chased the sun
to the edge of a cliff
He slipped into Sandman’s lair
through walls as thick as mist
Rowed through the clouds
trying to remember a dream
With a heart that’s numb
and a mind in deep freeze
Shadows wear colour
as and when they please
Reality grows rich
in a world of make believe
Why’s the sun on the run?
What has he to hide?
It’s hard to find the truth
drenched in the black of night
The stars reveal no secrets,
the moon keeps changing her mind
Orion’s no poacher
the bear can sleep sound tonight
Search my soul
Echoes of emptiness resound
How long has it been
since I lost my song?
The sun’s on the run
Help me find a torch
I’m looking for the music
that my memory forgot
Batteries run dry,
a candle-stick will do
I just need to find some answers
before the night is through
Or tomorrow I’ll awake
blinking in the sun
brainwashed into believing
I’m right where I belong
beautiful … really touches a cord!
We’re always on a chase…chasing the brilliance of the sun or the patterns in moonlight…but someday we do find our answers! Lovely poetry 🙂
