You should do things that make you happy.

No, really. You may start out loving something because of certain reasons. I started out loving cooking because the man I loved, loved  good food. It grew into baking, into picking organic over regular foods, over local produce over imported ingredients. It has come a long way. I have come a long way.
 **
But if it has to stay, it has to be done from a happy place. An unconditional place. If you love to cook, you must eventually love it for itself. Because it makes you happy.
 **
I have reached this place. I cook. It makes me happy. When I am happy, I make good food. There is magic in spices. When you cook with happiness, they work with each other to nourish, to mesmerize, to capture your senses and drive them inwards till you reach your own happy place. A beautiful, soul-nourishing meal at the end of a tiring day, really, few things can beat that. It’s a hug, it’s a kiss, it’s kind words, it’s a pat on the back, it’s a warm bed, it’s clean sheets, it’s love. On a plate.
 **
Do things from your happy place. Everything else will fall in place and you won’t even have tried very hard. This is true about cooking. I think it is true about everything else too.
