Eyes full of longing

Search for him in the crowd

Is that him? Is that he who comes in?

Is there a doubt?

Of course it is him …

Tall and dapper

Suave and elegant…

There he comes, striding towards me…

Here he is… the love of my life

Together we shall be

…Till death do us part!

 There she is…

Lighting the hall up

Beautiful as a sunbeam …

stars glistening in her eyes

There she stands

Dazzling them all with her smile …

Move over, please

I have come to claim her…

To make her mine

And together we shall be

…Till death do us part!

 Vacant eyes look on,

Unseeing, a hundred faces…

Why did my heart skip a beat?

Who has just arrived?

It is he…

Tall as always…

Tired and spent today…

There he is, the love of my life

And there he will have to stay.

 I see her …

Pretty still as a mayflower

But her eyes do not sparkle anymore…

Move over please…

Move over, so I can catch a glimpse

Of a love so true and so fine

Of a love I can never claim for mine.

An irony so bitter and hard

that death let us be…

But life did us part.
