Someone suggested I watch The Fault In Our Stars for a change of perspective. Instead I watched the movie to be reminded of something I believed in but had forgotten about.

Pain demands to be felt.

It is easier to fall into someone else’s arms at the end of a relationship.

It is easier to find work that will keep you busy, so as to keep thoughts at bay.

It is easier to ensure that you are so tired at the end of day; that sleep comes easily and dreamlessly.

But then, Pain demands to be felt.

One day you will wake up, and without knowing you will be crying. If you have the luxury of being alone at home, you might even want to howl.

Because true healing cannot start until the ‘right tear has been cried’, until all your questions have been answered or you have made peace with the fact that some of them in fact may never be answered.

Pain demands to be felt.

Numbness is easier to attain and sustain, but it comes at the cost of bitterness.

Sometimes there is real freedom in losing what you loved most, because now you get to live without fear and anxiety.

What comes now will not be as bad as what just happened, or maybe it will. You will live another day, and learn to discover.

This will only happen, when you finally give in to the demand of the pain. The pain that needs to be felt.
