Unboxed Writers is 23 days and over 10000 hits (all the hits don’t show up on the map but you can take our word for it!) old  in the cyber world. And the one thing we have been asked time and again is how we are going to monetise the site. The fact is, if we had only thought about that question, we would have not launched the site as quickly as we did. The first impulse was to write and to be read and we are doing that.

In these 23 days,  writers from different parts of the world have asked us how they can be a part of our site, we continue to get hit by readers in places as far flung as Dundee in Great Britain, Athens, Ukraine, Lagos,  Auckland, US, Australia, New Zealand and more. Assorted queries are coming and when they fructify into something, we will share them with you.

Yes, we are working on a monetising module too but right now, the priority is to show the world who we are and what we can do and that we do not need bylines approved by sprawling media houses to be read.

A few weeks back, I got a wonderful mail from one of my favourite people on the planet and actor Dia Mirza who complimented the site and said some wonderful things which I hope we will live up to. She tweeted about us too and I thank her and all the readers who have been reading and connecting with us. We are truly grateful.

Money is important to all of us but like one of our writers conveyed, what we have is a potentially world-class e-magazine and not just a place where our work is bought and sold. But yes, we are hoping to build partnerships with those who want good writers on board as workshop coordinators, content consultants, columnists and more. We want to develop scripts for theatre, cinema, television, manuscripts for novels, anthologies. We want to write for publications who respect good content.

We want ad revenue and we will start chasing it soon. There are a few things however we will not do. We will not edit three full length manuscripts in a month for a laughable salary as was suggested to one of our writers, recently. We will not ghost write. We will not do technical writing unless it is changing the world and paying us a great deal. As we said, this site is about pride and passion and we are not willing to settle for work or money that does not recognise that.We are done settling for less.

We welcome monitising ideas however from our readers and those who wish us well and want to collaborate with us. We also promise that we will keep writing everyday and will add more dimensions to the site design and to the content and we welcome your suggestions and inputs as always. One thing we can promise you is that we are in this for the long haul. We are committed to keep this site up and running and buzzing with life for as long there is even one reader in some corner of the world, reading us. And that’s a promise.
